Snowy Mountains
(Photos of Snow in Colorado's Rocky Mountains - May 15, 2010)
Spring Snowfall in Chaffee County, Colorado I woke up early and noticed it was snowing outside from my living room window (above).
I was wearing pajamas, but I didn't let that stop me from venturing outside and photographing the snow coming down.
Although it is certainly springtime in Colorado and most of the ski areas have closed,
it is not uncommon to receive
days of snowfall like this in May.
I drove on Chaffee County Road 306 west of Buena Vista, CO
to take pictures of the snowy mountain scenery.
A fresh layer of snow covered the ground.
One self-portrait of myself deep in the forest.
It was so peaceful... what a great day to
hike or
snowshoe in the mountains!
I roamed in the forest for about an hour.
Denny Creek, a high mountain creek near Mt. Yale,
was surrounding by scenery highlighted with snow. At this point, you
can notice the snow coming down hard! :)
Another photo of the creek.
A beautiful shot with the road, forest and large mountain. This is near the Collegiate Peaks Campground. So pretty!
