Colorado Snowfall (Buena Vista, CO area - May 13, 2008)
Buena Vista, CO
It has been snowing all day here in the small mountain town of Buena Vista, Colorado!
I drove around the neighborhood to capture any snow pictures I could.
Looking west. There would be
large mountains behind that
sign if there had been any visibility at all out there! ;)
The snowy entrance to the Game Trail residential community.
The Colorado East Bank & Trust sign said it was 35 outside.
I put some gas in my vehicle and before paying,
I snapped this shot of the snowfall in town.
Cottonwood Pass Road
I then ventured up Chaffee County Road 306 ("Cottonwood Pass Road") where the snow came
down even harder west of Buena Vista.
I think it's safe to say the
Comanche Drive-In Theater will not be showing a movie today. ;)
Honestly, because visibility was fairly poor, I was looking
for practically any kind of object in the foreground that would give the viewer an
idea of how hard the snowing was falling.
Heading uphill, approaching the Cottonwood Hot Springs entrance.
I spotted young bighorn sheep on the side of the highway. Neat!
You can see my recent photos of these fellows here: Bighorn Sheep.
More views of the snowy road.
Two photos at the junction where Chaffee County Road 341 begins
and leads to Cottonwood Lake.
The sign for the Rainbow Lake Resort.
Notice how the sign nice and warm with blue skies and a rainbow ... Ha ha ha ha ha! Not today! :)
Three more views as I traveled west on Chaffee County Road 306.
A nice view of the Rainbow Lake Resort, including the lake and some of their cabin rentals. Very pretty picture!
Using the timer, I captured one shot of me standing on the road.
My tire tracks indicate I was a rare motorist to head up this way. ;)
